About Carron

The harbour was built in the nineteenth century for shipping limestone from the nearby Newbigging Limestone Mine, bound for the Carron Ironworks in Falkirk. It is no longer used commercially and has to some extent fallen into disrepair. It is operated by Kinghorn Yacht Services, who maintain fishing and leisure craft.

The harbour is also known as the Starleyburn Boatyard.
